NFHS Releases Hockey Rule Changes for 2018-19

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  — Rules changes related to minimizing risk of injury in high school ice hockey are among five revisions for the 2018-19 season.

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Ice Hockey Rules Committee recommended the changes at its April 23-24 meeting in Indianapolis, and all changes were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.

Winter Team Tournament Sportsmanship Award Winners Named

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, in cooperation with Rural Mutual Insurance, has chosen the recipients of the team Sportsmanship Awards for the 2018 winter State Tournaments. The winners of the prestigious sportsmanship recognition are Valders in boys basketball, Marshall in girls basketball, D.C. Everest Co-op in girls hockey, Hudson in gymnastics and Ellsworth in team wrestling.

State Boys & Girls Hockey Tournament Preview

The 48th Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys Hockey State Tournament and the 17th Girls Hockey State Tournament will take place Thursday-Saturday, March 1-3, at Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis. Ticket prices for the tourney are $8 per session. Individuals 13-years old and under will be admitted for $5 each session.

WIAA Board of Control June Meeting Release

The Board of Control reviewed and approved a number of committee recommendations impacting winter sports, gave initial review and consideration of a newly conceived divisional placement plan for basketball, and engaged in robust membership-related discussions at its June meeting today.
