The WIAA began sponsoring girls lacrosse with a Tournament Series in 2024. Thirty-six school programs offered the sport in its first season, including 35 eligible to compete for a State championship. The program expanded to 37 teams sponsoring the sport in 2026.
One division of tournament play culminated with a championship game conducted at the Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field, Sun Prairie, Wis. Kettle Moraine/Badger was crowned champion of the first tournament with a 17-15 win over University School of Milwaukee. Kettle Moraine/Badger also advanced to the championship game in 2025 and finished runner-up.
Hudson won back-to-back championships in 2025 and 2026. The Raiders and Kettle Moraine/Badger are the only programs to advance to the title game more than once. Hudson, Kettle Moraine/Badger and University School of Milwaukee have each advanced to two championship games.
