Football Playoff Manual

Ranking Officials - All head coaches are required to rank the officials following each game.  Rankings can be entered on the WIAA website.  To access the ranking page, coaches must be logged in with their current WIAA login information.  Once they are logged in they will go under the Officials tab and click on Officials Center.  Further directions can be found on the Coaches page.

Playoff Hosting Information

Minimum standards for playoff games and "approved site" list status require fields that are clear of obstructions and meet playing rules safety requirements, seating for 1,500 in Divisions 1-2 and 1,000 in Divisions 3-4-5-6-7, adequate press box to handle participating teams, media, PA, etc., and the ability to secure the facility and control crowd access, no “dirt infields” or unusual end zone fences, etc.

Seeding TimeTable

Following is our projected timeline for the release of football information

Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 & 17:

Friday, Oct. 16
Midnight - release tournament field of 224 - broken into 7 divisions.
12:30 a.m. - run auto-seeding program
1:30 a.m. - release 4-team groupings/brackets by division 
 
Saturday, Oct. 17
Brackets released - Time TBA
All eight teams will have been seeded – highest seed will host if on approved site list.  The default date on the bracket will reflect Friday at 7 p.m. Make certain to discuss day and time for your game so changes can be communicated with the WIAA office and noted on the completed bracket.  Officials crews will be assigned based on the dates shown on the bracket.
 
Seed Results 
  • will be posted Saturday, Oct. 17
  • consult with school administration for Friday/Saturday and times preference  
  • each coach must make plans to exchange film of the last two games with their first round opponent

  • Verify your week 9 schedule and previous scores - once verified, schedules will be locked and only scores may be entered.

Note:  Wilson will send one Wilson GST football to all 56 teams in Sectional (former Level 3) and all 28 teams in State Semifinal (former Level 4).

Watch the live broadcast of all divisions of the WIAA State 11-Player Football Finals on the WIAA State Television Network on WKOW 27 in Madison, WAOW 9 in Wausau, WXOW 19 in La Crosse, WQOW 18 in Eau Claire, WLUK/WCFW CW14 in Appleton/Green Bay and WCGV My 24 in Milwaukee. The finals will be streamed live on the State Television Network stations' websites, their news apps and the WIAA Sports LIVE App.
