The WIAA began sponsoring boys lacrosse with a Tournament Series in 2024. Forty school programs offered the sport in its first season, including 39 eligible to compete for a State championship. The number of tournament-eligible teams increased to 41 in the second year and 43 in the third season.
One division of tournament play has culminated with a championship game conducted at the Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field, Sun Prairie, Wis. Middleton was crowned champion of the first tournament with a 7-6 win over Neenah. Waunakee won the title in 2025 with a 9-8 victory over Kettle Moraine/St. John's NW Academies. Hudson earned the championship the title in the third year with an 11-10 overtime win over Mukwonago Co-op.
The teams that have qualified for the championship final have been Hudson, Kettle Moraine/St. John's NW Academies, Middleton, Mukwonago Co-op, Neenah and Waunakee.
