Remanded Recommendations to Board of Control

The WIAA Board of Control approved realignment in the Milwaukee area that moves Menomonee Falls and Germantown from the Greater Metro Conference to the North Shore Conference and  Grafton from the North Shore Conference to the Glacier Trails Conference. The Board remanded plans involving other Greater Metro schools, the Classic 8 Conference, the Southeast Conference and independent schools in the Milwaukee area back to the Task Force for additional review and final consideration at the Board meeting in April.

Approved Plans from 2025-26 Conference Realignment Cycle
 

SPORT SPECIFIC: Altoona will move to the Middle Border Conference from the Cloverbelt in wrestling only
Shawano/Bonduel will transition to the Great Northern Conference for boys hockey from an independent status
Parkview will go from independent status to joining the Rock Valley Conference in girls’ golf
Middleton would depart the Badger Conference and enter the Big Eight Conference; Sun Prairie Co-op will split into two stand-alone programs in the Big Eight Conference for boys’ volleyball. (The Big Eight Conference for boys’ volleyball will include Sun Prairie East, Sun Prairie West, Madison West, Madison East, Madison Memorial, Madison La Follette, Verona and Middleton. The programs in the Badger Conference includes Waunakee, DeForest, Monona Grove/McFarland, Fort Atkinson and Edgewood.)

ALL SPORT (NON-FOOTBALL): Appleton West will exit the Fox Valley Association to enter the Bay Conference
Viroqua will move to the Southwest Conference from the Coulee Conference
Portage enters the Capitol Conference from the Badger Conference
St. Ambrose and The Lincoln Academy from independent status to the Trailways Conference. 
Menomonee Falls and Germantown from the Greater Metro Conference to the North Shore Conference

February Modified Plans

After appeals from the Greater Metro Conference, Southeast Conference, Milwaukee City Conference, and the Coulee Conference on Feb. 19, 2026 changes were made to the Milwaukee Area proposal presented in January.  In the new proposal, Franklin, Milwaukee Reagan, and Hamilton all stay in their current conferences.
The proposal moving Viroqua to the Southwest Conference was upheld and will be forwarded as presented in Janaury.  

January Modified Plans

The following plans were accepted by the Conference Realignment Task Force.  These plans, along with those accepted in December will now be presented to the WIAA Board of Control on March 10, 2026.

The following plans were amended involving newly affected schools.  Schools directly affected by these proposals can appeal to the Conference Realignment Task Force on February 19th.

*Note: Milwaukee Academy of Science remains independent.

The following conference realignment solutions were accepted as presented by the Conference Realignment Task Force:

The following conference realignment solutions were denied by the Task Force.  These schools can appeal to the Task Force virtually on January 8th.

The following conference realignment solution was modified by the Task Force combining proposals from Brookfield East, Divine Savior Holy Angels, Franklin, Germantown, Grafton, Hamilton, Kenosha Tremper, Marquette University HS, Menomonee Falls, Oak Creek, Wauwatosa East and Wauwatosa West

The following solutions were reviewed and have two possible solutions being considered by the Task Force:

              B: MAS to the Metro Classic, Vote 9-5
              C modified: MAS to the Milwaukee City Conference, Vote 11-3
Note: MAS proposal A was denied by the Task Force, Vote 0-14

Appeals to all these preliminary solutions will be heard on January 15th. 

Requests Received

To be considered for Conference Realignment or Affiliation during the 2025-26 cycle, schools needed to declare their intent to apply by October 1, 2025.  Applications need to be complete by November 1st.  

List of Schools Seeking Conference Realignment/Affiliation 2025-26

The following schools have completed conference realignment applications that will be considered by the Conference Realignment Task Force during the 2025-26 cycle.  The first in-person meeting of the Task Force is scheduled for December 9, 2025.  All schools affected by these plans will be provided the opportunity for feedback directly to the committee; this will be emailed to all athletic administrators and needs to be completed by 11:59pm on December 8th.

Conference Realignment Task Force Meeting #1 (virtual)-Meeting notes
