State Boys & Girls Hockey Tournament Preview

The 45th Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys Hockey State Tournament and the 14th Girls Hockey State Tournament will take place Thursday-Saturday, March 5-7, at Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis. Ticket prices for the tourney are $8 per session. Middle school-aged individuals wearing their hockey team apparel will be admitted for $5 each session.

The single elimination boys tournament features eight teams. The girls tournament features four teams. There were 90 boys teams and 33 girls teams at the beginning of the championship tournament series this year.

Thursday, March 5
Game-1:   Reedsburg Co-op (22-3-2) vs. Cedarburg (23-2-2) - 11 a.m.
Game-2:   Superior (11-15-1) vs. Janesville Parker/Craig (17-8-2) - 1:15 p.m.*
Game-3:   Eau Claire Memorial (19-5-3) vs. Madison Memorial (21-5-1) - 5 p.m.
Game-4:   Wausau West (20-4-3) vs. Appleton East Co-op (22-4-1) - 7:15 p.m.*

Friday, March 6
Game-5:  Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2 - 5 p.m.
Game-6:  Winner of Game 3 vs. Winner of Game 4 - 7:15 p.m.*

Saturday, March 7
Game-7:  Championship Game - 2:15 p.m.*

GIRLS SCHEDULE:

Friday, March 6
Game-1:   Onalaska Co-op (16-6-3)  vs. University School Co-op (25-2) - 11 a.m.
Game-2:   Hayward Co-op (22-4) vs. D. C. Everest Co-op (19-6-1) - 1:15 p.m.*

Saturday, March 7
Game-3:  Championship Game - 12:10 p.m.

2014-15 Hockey Rule Changes Announced

More stringent penalties for boarding and checking from behind in high school ice hockey have been approved for the 2014-15 season.

Winter Sports to Begin

Boys and girls hockey, gymnastics, and boys basketball begin practice on Monday, November 11.  Boys swimming & dive, wrestling and girls basketball begin on Monday November 18.  All 10-12th graders must report to practice on time and once any athlete begins practice on with a school team, they cannot continue nonschool competition.
