NFHS Releases 2015-16 Basketball Rule Changes

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The rule prohibiting excessive contact in high school basketball has been expanded to include all ball-handlers on the court, include post players.

This revision in Rule 10-6-12 and a new signal for officials were recommended by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Basketball Rules Committee at its April 20-22 meeting in Indianapolis. Both changes were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.

40th State Girls Basketball Tourney Crowns Five Champs

Divine Savior Holy Angels rolled to a 64-29 win over previously undefeated D.C. Everest (27-1) in the Division 1 final to win its first State title Saturday evening at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wis.

Pius XI was crowned the champion in Division 2 after a convincing 54-36 win over Cedarburg in the championship final.

Whitewater (28-0) won the Division 3 championship to cap an undefeated season with a 49-43 win over Xavier in the final Saturday afternoon.

Cuba City (28-0) finishes the season undefeated with a 56-43 victory over Fall Creek in the Division 4 championship game Saturday, giving the Cubans their second straight title and their membership leading 11th crown overall.

Barneveld (27-1) won its second straight championship in Division 5 with a 59-43 win over Assumption (25-4) in the final Saturday morning. 

Kylie Moe Wins First 3-Point Challenge

Kylie Moe, a junior from Brodhead, won the inaugural girls’ 3-Point Challenge held Saturday at the Resch Center in conjunction with the State Girls Basketball Tournament.

Moe was one of 10 participants in the contest. She scored 15 points in the final round to win the contest. Sammy Kozlowski of New Berlin Eisenhower was second with 13 points in the final round, and Amber Baehman of Tri-County was third with 10.
