Edgewood Wins Div. 3 Girls Basketball Championship

Edgewood (25-3) celebrates its first State title by dicarding Martin Luther 51-30 in the Division 3 championship game of the State Girls Basketball Tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay Saturday afternoon.

Howards Grove Edges Aquinas to Win Div. 4 Title

Howards Grove (27-1) won the Division 4 championship in their second appearance in the State Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday afternoon with a 44-43 victory over previously undefeated Aquinas at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

Loyal Wins Division 5 State Girls Basketball Title

Loyal (25-4) won its first State title in its initial appearance in the Girls State Basketball Tournament with a 74-61 victory over the Milwaukee Academy of Science (23-5) in the Division 5 championship game Saturday at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

Shullsburg's Rennert Wins Girls 3-Point Challenge

Hattie Rennert, a senior from Shullsburg, won the 2017 girls 3-Point Challenge held Saturday morning at the Resch Center in conjunction with the State Girls Basketball Tournament.

Rennert, representing Division 5,  was one of 10 participants in the 3-Point Challenge, which was held for the third time. She scored 14 points in the final round to win the contest. Senior Tori Martell of Somerset was second with 13 points in the final round.

Rennert scored 19 points in the opening round and 18 in the semifinals. Martell opened with 18 points and followed with a competition-record 22 in the semifinals. Junior Justice Filip of Madison East and junior Brooklyn Paulson of Holmen also advanced to the semifinals with first-round totals of 19 and 18, respectively.  

Other participants were Natalie McNeal of Germantown, Brehna Evans of West De Pere, Savannah Walsdorf of Kiel, Arianna Mason of Stanley-Boyd, Caitlyn Tipton of Laconia and McKenzie Couey of Riverdale.
