Pewaukee Wins Boys & Girls Div. 2 State Cross Country Titles

Competitors in the 2015 State Cross Country Championships endured a persistent rain to determine six champions at the The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Saturday.

State Cross Country Championships Preview

The 103rd running of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys Cross Country Championships and the 43rd Annual Girls Cross Country Championships will take place Saturday, Oct. 31, at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. Ticket price for the meet is $6. 
  
The boys and girls will run a 5,000-meter course. It’s the second year the girls will be racing at that distance. The following is a listing of the times for each race: 

Girls 
Noon  - Division 3 
12:40 p.m. -  Division 2 
1:20 p.m. - Division 1 

Boys
2 p.m. - Division 3
2:35 p.m. - Division 2
3:10 p.m. - Division 1

Neenah, Edgewood Win Girls Team Tennis Titles

Neenah and Edgewood captured State Girls Team Tennis championships Saturday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wis.

Neenah (17-1) edged Brookfield East (19-5) 4-3 to win the Division 1 title. The Rockets won it on the strength of their doubles play, sweeping all three flights.  

The Crusaders (18-1) blanked Altoona (16-5) 7-0 in the final to win the Division 2 team championship. They finished runner-up last year after winning their first team title in 2013.

WIAA Recognized for Football Practice Tackling Rules

New research shows that limiting the amount of full-contact tackling during high school football practices can have a big impact on reducing the number of concussions among players. 


State Girls Team Tennis Tournament Preview

The 22nd Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls Team Tennis Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23-24. The meet takes place at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison, Wis. Action will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday and will resume Saturday at 9 a.m. Admission is $6 for adults and students.
