School Cancellation - One Pound Allowance

If schools are closed and practice is cancelled today due to weather/school board policy, the growth allowance language may be applied which gives a one pound allowance.   However, if schools are closed and practice IS HELD, the growth allowance language which gives a one pound allowance DOES NOT APPLY. 

Keep in mind that proper notice by the school requesting the one pound additional allowance must be made to the meet manager and each school.  Personal contact must be made and voice mail or emails are not acceptable.

Fall Sportsmanship Award Recipients Selected

STEVENS POINT, Wis.– The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, in cooperation with Rural Mutual Insurance Company, has selected the team Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2014 Fall State Championships. 

The winners of the State Team Tournament Sportsmanship Awards are Marathon in girls volleyball, Menomonee Falls in boys soccer, Pepin/Alma in football, University School in girls team tennis and Arrowhead in boys volleyball.


Board Receives Recommendation from Competitive Equity Committee

The Board of Control was introduced to a success factor plan with a presentation by the competitive equity ad-hoc committee and approved a number of other action items at its December meeting today.

The Success Factor Plan is a result of months of discussions, research and planning by the committee to address concerns of competitive inequities brought forward by a segment of the membership. The proposal promotes programs in the team sports of baseball, boys and girls basketball, softball, boys and girls soccer, and girls volleyball to a higher division for tournament play based on point values assessed for success in the tournament over a three-year period. 

Membership Conducts 8th Sportsmanship Summit

Nearly 500 students and administrators of 77 teams representing 69 member high schools attended the 2014 WIAA/Rural Mutual Insurance Sportsmanship Summit in Stevens Point, Wis., Wednesday. 

Schools from throughout the state representing all divisions were in attendance at the Holiday Inn & Convention Center. Each school was represented by at least one six-member team of students, school administrators, coaches, school board members and/or community leaders.
