Four Advance To Girls Volleyball Semifinals

Four teams in Division 1 advanced to the semifinals with victories in their quarterfinal matches Thursday at State Girls Volleyball Tournament at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

State Girls Volleyball Tournament Preview

The 43rd Annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls Volleyball State Tournament will take place Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 5-7, at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wis. Ticket prices for the tourney are $8 per session. To order tickets online, go to the WIAA website at www.wiaawi.org/Tickets.aspx.

The single-elimination tournament features matches with a best-of-five-sets, rally-scoring format. Eight teams will play for the State title in Division 1, with four teams still in contention for the State crown in Divisions 2, 3 and 4. Below is the schedule and match-ups for the tournament. 

NFHS Volleyball Rule Changes Approved

A new penalty system for an unnecessary delay in starting or resuming play in high school volleyball was approved by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Volleyball Rules Committee at its January meeting in Indianapolis.

This significant rules change, along with three others recommended by the committee for the 2015-16 season, were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.

Fall Sportsmanship Award Recipients Selected

STEVENS POINT, Wis.– The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, in cooperation with Rural Mutual Insurance Company, has selected the team Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2014 Fall State Championships. 

The winners of the State Team Tournament Sportsmanship Awards are Marathon in girls volleyball, Menomonee Falls in boys soccer, Pepin/Alma in football, University School in girls team tennis and Arrowhead in boys volleyball.
