STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association has entered a partnership with RefReps Officiating Education System for standardized officiating education platform through July 2029.
"We are excited for this new partnership to help grow and educate our officials across Wisconsin,” WIAA Assistant Director Chad Schultz said. “RefReps has an amazing platform that teaches people the rules and shows you what it's like to officiate with their point of view videos. Schools that are currently offering an officiating class as part of their elective PE curriculum will greatly benefit by having a comprehensive official education system at their fingertips."
Developed by educators and officials, using the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS) rules, RefReps is an education technology platform featuring standardized sports officiating curriculum that incorporates interactive training videos, resources and courses for WIAA-licensed officials.
The system incorporates technology that puts the user in position to make the call on the court, field, mat or track. In addition, RefReps provides everything a school or organization would need to successfully implement a sports officiating introduction class.
“RefReps and the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association share a common goal: strengthening the future of high school sports by addressing the national shortage of sports officials,” said Kyle Armstrong, Founder of RefReps Officiating Education System. “By working together, we can provide students with meaningful, education-based opportunities that support workforce development, career readiness, and immediate employability.
“Through this partnership, RefReps is proud to advance our mission of helping the world see the game through the eyes of the officials, while supporting and enhancing the growth of thriving sports officiating classes across Wisconsin.,” he said. “We’re excited to work with the WIAA to help develop the next generation of officials and leaders who will positively impact school communities for years to come.”
RefReps is the official and exclusive officiating education technology and curriculum partner of the NFHS. RefReps classes are currently being taught in 47 of the 50 states. The system has helped introduce more than 52,000 individuals across the nation to sports officiating.
