West Bend East's Hilt Wins Boys 3-Point Challenge

MADISON, Wis. – Severin Hilt, a junior from West Bend East, won the 2022 boys 3-Point Challenge held Saturday morning at the Kohl Center in conjunction with the State Boys Basketball Tournament.

Hilt, representing Division 2, was one of 10 participants in the 3-Point Challenge, which was held for the seventh time and for the first time since 2019. He scored 22 points in the final round to win the contest. Sophomore Tim Franks of Homestead was second with 18 points in the final round, and senior Andrew Lau of Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran was third with 13 points.

Hilt scored 17 points in the opening round and 21 in the semifinals. Franks opened with 20 points and followed with a 23 in the second round. Lau advanced to the semifinals with a score of 20 in the opening round, and then posting 21 in the second round.

Sophomore DJ Johnson of Dominican and junior Joshua Knueppel of Wisconsin Lutheran each scored 15 in the second round, which did not qualify them for the final round. Knueppel netted 18 three-pointers in the opening round, and Johnson converted on 17.

Other participants were sophomore Blake Jakobi of Columbus Catholic, senior Jack Jorgensen of De Pere, senior Cameron Martzke of Fall Creek, junior Ashe Oglesby of The Prairie School and senior Cameron Pendleton of Catholic Memorial.
