Teams, Individuals Crowned at State Gymnastics Championships

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. -  The 2026 State Gymnastics Championships produced individual champions in five events in two divisions Saturday following the team championships Friday at Wisconsin Rapids High School.

Arrowhead earned the Division 1 title with a four-event team score of 144.0164. It’s the fourth championship in the program’s history, The Warhawks also earned the team title in 2009, 2010 and 2015. They improved upon their fifth-place finish last season. Franklin/Muskego, last year’s champion, finished runner-up with a total of 143.35 points.

Dodgeville/Highland/Iowa-Grant/Mineral Point won the Division 2 championship with a score of 139.6834 to earn the program’s first team championship in its history. The Dodgers placed third a year ago, which marked the highest finish for any of their three co-op team configurations prior to this season’s championship. Mount Horeb finished in second place with 138.2001 points.

Senior Mackenzie Gruszynski of Hartford Union won the Division 1 all-around competition, compiling a four-event score of 37.7167. Junior Annika Lee of Waunakee/DeForest scored a 37.3167 to finish runner-up after placing third last year and fourth in 2024. 

Gruszynski also won two of the four individual events. She captured the title on the uneven bars with a score of 9.2 and on the balance beam, scoring a 9.6167. Senior Olivia Antreassian of Wilmot Union/Badger/Burlington/Union Grove/Williams Bay finished runner-up on the bars with a score of 9.1833. Sophomore Claire Strayer of Waunakee/DeForest placed second on the beam, scoring a 9.35.

Lee won the other two individual events. She scored a 9.6667 in the vault, edging Gruszynski, who score a 9.5667 in the event. Lee improved on last season’s runner-up finish and her third-place standing in 2024. Lee won the floor exercise with an average score of 9.7167 after placing third a year ago and runner-up in 2024. Senior Dominika Ziemba of Verona/Edgewood was runner-up with a score of 9.5.

In Division 2, senior Gabrielle Bjorkman of Sparta won the all-around and two other individual event titles. Her four-event score of 37.1334 earned her the all-around gold medal after placing fourth last season and 14th in 2024. Junior Ruby Amundson of Dodgeville/Highland/Iowa-Grant/Mineral Point finished second with a score of 37.05 following a sixth-place finish in 2025.

Bjorkman won the uneven bars with a score of 9.1667 following a sixth-place standing a year ago. Junior Madelyn Klein of Dodgeville/Highland/Iowa-Grant/Mineral Point, the champion in the event last year, finished second with a score of 9.1167. Bjorkman also conquered the competition in the floor exercise with a score of 9.55 after a 12th-place finish last year. Freshman Jazlyn Kurth of Marshfield was runner-up in the event with a score of 9.4333.

Klein won the championship on the vault with an average score of 9.45, improving on last season’s seventh-place standing. Kennedy Sefcik of Monona Grove was second, scoring a 9.4333. Kurth earned the championship on the beam with a score of 9.4333. Amundson was runner-up, averaging a 9.333 after placing eighth last year.
