Officials Registration Open for 2026–27 School Year; New Licensing Platform Introduced

Officials across Wisconsin can now begin preparing for the upcoming high school sports season, as registration for the 2026–27 school year officially opened May 1 at 8 a.m.

This year introduces a significant change to the registration process. To create a more streamlined and user-friendly experience, the WIAA has transitioned its officials licensing platform to ArbiterSports. All licensing, testing and rules video requirements will now be managed in one centralized location. Officials must register through ArbiterSports in order to be licensed and considered “Active” for the 2026–27 school year.

What Officials Need to Know

  • New Registration Portal: All officials will now register directly through ArbiterSports. Returning officials will find that their records and years of service have already been transferred to ensure a smooth transition.

  • Photo Requirement: A new step has been added to the process this year. Officials are required to upload a personal photo to complete registration, so having a digital image ready in advance is recommended.

  • Mobile App Access: Officials are encouraged to download the Arbiter mobile app, which allows users to view game assignments, block unavailable dates and manage payments directly from their phones.

Classification and Eligibility Tiers

During registration, all officials will initially appear in a “General Eligibility Tier.” This is a temporary step that allows assignors to continue scheduling contests without interruption.

In early to mid-July, the WIAA will complete its annual data rollover process. At that time, each official’s earned classification level—now referred to as an “Eligibility Tier” within ArbiterSports—will be properly assigned.

Support and Assistance

Officials experiencing technical issues, including password concerns, should contact ArbiterSports support directly:

  • Phone: 800-311-4060
  • Email: [email protected]
  • Online: ArbiterSports Help Center
  • Password assistance is also available through the “Forgot Password” link on the login page

WIAA staff will remain available to assist with any additional questions related to the registration process, or you can visit the WIAA's 2026-27 Officials Licensing Webpage for FAQs.

Looking Ahead

Throughout the summer and early fall, the WIAA will release instructional videos to help officials navigate the new platform and complete all requirements for the season.

The WIAA extends its appreciation to officials for their continued commitment and looks forward to another successful year on the field, court, mat and in the pool.
