Mount Horeb Captures Crown in Division 2

Mount Horeb (23-5) is the champion in Division 2 following a 58-46 victory over Rice Lake (22-6) in the title game.

The final score wasn’t indicative of competitive nature of the game. The Warriors were playing without the services of co-Mr. Basketball in Wisconsin Henry Ellenson, who suffered a hand injury in Friday night’s semifinal victory.

The gritty Warriors led for only 22 seconds in the game, that came at the 3:56 mark of the third period. They had battled back from a nine-point deficit in the first half. Victory became imminent for the Vikings when they stretched their lead to 12 at 55-43 with just over a minute to play.

Max Meylor scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Vikings’ offense, and Terek Nesheim contributed 14 points. Ben Widdes and Andrew Shearrow both had 15 points to lead the Warriors in scoring.
