SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. – Hudson claimed both the boys’ and girls’ titles at the 2026 State Lacrosse Championships at Sun Prairie Bank Stadium at Ashley Field on Saturday, June 13.
Hudson (12-8) edged the Mukwonago/East Troy/Greenfield/New Berlin Eisenhower/New Berlin West Co-op (13-9) 11-10 in overtime to win the boys’ championship.
Gavin Tarnowski scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Benjamin Grismore with 2:33 remaining in overtime to lift the Raiders to victory. Hudson erased an early 2-0 deficit, built a five-goal lead in the second quarter and then survived a furious Mukwonago comeback to secure the State title.
The Indians rallied from a 10-6 deficit in the fourth quarter and tied the game with nine seconds remaining to force overtime.
Tarnowski and Oliver Rivera led the Raiders with three goals and one assist each. Grismore recorded two goals and five assists for a game-high seven points, while Jaxson Saltzman added two goals and Buchanon Franta contributed a goal and an assist. Defensively, Preston Bakken made eight saves in goal for the Raiders.
Noah Huebner paced Mukwonago with three goals. Austin Green and Mason James each finished with two goals and one assist, while Jayden Schaefer contributed one goal and four assists for a team-high five points. Colton Lynch and Isaac Motl each added a goal.
Avery Carson controlled possession for the Indians, winning 16-of-25 faceoffs and collecting seven ground balls to help Mukwonago earn a 32-29 advantage in ground balls. James Frutchey recorded 10 saves in goal.
The Raiders converted two-of-seven extra-man opportunities.
Hudson won the school’s first championship in its first appearance in the championship game. Mukwonago/East Troy/Greenfield/New Berlin Eisenhower/New Berlin West Co-op finished runner-up in its first championship game experience.
In the girls’ championship game, defending champion Hudson (17-2) held off a late rally by University School of Milwaukee (17-4) for a 12-11 to win the title.
Josie Jones scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Harper Bradley with 42 seconds remaining to lift the Raiders to the state title. Hudson built an 11-7 lead entering the fourth quarter before University School of Milwaukee stormed back with four unanswered goals to tie the game at 11-11 with 5:06 remaining.
Hudson led 5-3 after the first quarter and stretched its advantage to 8-5 at halftime. The Raiders extended the margin to 11-7 through three quarters. USM mounted its comeback behind Darcy Doyle, who scored five second-half goals. Her final score tied the game at 11-11 with 5:06 left.
Jones and Bradley paced the Raiders offensively. Jones scored four goals, including the game winner, while Bradley recorded four goals and two assists for a game-high six points. Vanessa Pedersen added two goals and one assist, and Gretchen Whitten contributed two goals and one assist. Reagan Kubler and Libby Pilgrim each had an assist.
Bradley also controlled possession for Hudson with a game-high six draw controls. Kubler added four draw controls as the Raiders finished with a 15-13 advantage in the category.
Defensively, Amelia Seidling recorded 10 saves for Hudson, including several key stops during the Wildcats' fourth-quarter surge. Jones and Whitten each caused two turnovers.
Doyle finished with a game-high seven goals for USM. She also had three draw controls and converted three free-position opportunities. Lucy Konkol, Gabi Ortiz Fleet, Anna Solberg and Sofie Bucher each scored a goal. Bucher also recorded the team's lone assist.
Alice Gardner made five saves for the Wildcats. Carson Markgraf contributed a team-high seven draw controls, while Doyle and Konkol added three and two, respectively.
The Wildcats converted 5-of-8 free-position opportunities.
Hudson won its second title in its second championship game appearance, and University School of Milwaukee finished runner-up in its second title game experience.
