Homestead and University School of Milwaukee added to their run of championships at the 25th Annual WIAA State Girls Team Tennis Tournament Saturday and Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wis.
The Highlanders (25-0) capped an undefeated season by winning the Division 1 championship for the third consecutive year with a 4-3 win over Divine Savior Holy Angels (20-5). Homestead won the match on the strength of its doubles play. The Highlanders won at all three doubles flights to go with a victory by freshman Anna Head at #3 singles to account for their score.
The Dashers won three singles matches, including the #1 flight with Logan White, the runner-up at last weekend’s individual championships, defeating Natalie Yang, who finished third at the individual championships, 6-2, 6-2.
Bridget Brown and Kate Wade won their doubles match at #1 after placing sixth at the individual championships last week, and Grace Crowley and Sasha Shapsis won their #2 doubles flight following last week’s fifth-place finish. Ashley Chavin and Ellie Sprinkmann also won at the #3 doubles flight.
It is the eighth State crown won by the Highlanders in 12 State team tournament appearances. The Dashers finish runner-up in their eighth appearance.

University School (16-3) won its second straight Division 2 championship with a 5-2 victory over Catholic Memorial (14-2). The Wildcats won three of the four singles flights and two of three doubles flights to account for their scoring.
The Wildcats’ Veda Sane, who finished third at last week’s individual championships, won her singles match at the #1 position over Lauren Carson, who place fifth. Zoe Francis and Vanessa Goris also won their singles matches at #2 and #4, respectively. Courtney Sturm was the only Crusader to win a singles match with a victory at #3.
Stephanie Guy and Audrey Treptow won their doubles match at #2, and Kala Siddalingaiah and Rebecca Daskal won at #3 for the Wildcats.
It is the ninth State team championship won by the Wildcats in 13 State team tournament appearances. The Crusaders finish runner-up in their first-ever team tournament appearance.
