STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Gov. Tony Evers issued a Stay at Home order today, effective Wednesday, March 25, 2020, and extending to Friday, April 24, 2020.
The Stay at Home order is in response to the information available regarding COVID-19 and efforts to prevent the spread of the disease.
The WIAA has suspended all athletic participation following the executive order issued by the governor on Friday, March 13, which closed all public and private schools by Wednesday, March 18. On Tuesday, March 17, Evers extended the school closures “for the duration of the public health emergency or until a subsequent order lifts this specific restriction.”
Consistent with Gov. Evers’ order, all school training, practices, scrimmages and contests are suspended. In addition, schools and coaches may not bring students together or be involved with students during this time period for any extracurricular or athletic purposes, which includes practices and other instructional/organizational purposes.
Coaches may provide individual workouts virtually, but shall not encourage or organize their team assembling to practice or compete.
