State Meet Results
The 100th running of the State Cross Country meet produced a number of repeat team and individual champions at the The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
The meet was delayed one hour because of frost on the course with almost ideal conditions by the time the first race began at noon.
Dodgeville/Mineral Point won its third straight Division 2 girls team championship with a score of 84. Notre Dame finished second with 98 points. Senior Jamie Shannon of McFarland ran to victory in the 4000-meter race with a time of 14:38.94.
Darlington repeated as boys team champion in Division 3 led by junior Tyson Miehe, who won his second consecutive individual title. He finished the 5000-meter course in a time of 15:51.94. The Redbirds scored 50 points, 44 points fewer than runner-up Boscobel.
Senior Ryan McCoy of New Glarus/Monticello also successfully defended his individual title. He raced to victory in the boys Division 2 event with a time 15:28.30. Shorewood captured the team championship for the third time in the last four seasons with 80 points. Freedom finished second with 91 points.
Madison West won the Division 1 boys team championship with 80 points, Madison La Follette was second with 108 points. Senior Ryan Kromer of Hudson was the individual champion with a time of 15:27.17.
Arrowhead captured it second straight girls Division 1 crown with 41 points. The Warhawks placed four runners among the top 20 finishers. Neenah finished second for the third straight year. McKaela Christenson ran to the individual title with a time of 14:12.65.
Senior Andrea Ostenso of Ladysmith was the first girl to finish in Division 3 with a time of 14:34.59 after placing third last season. Senior Breanna Colbenson of Spring Valley finished runner-up for the second consecutive year in leading the Cardinals to the team championship. They won the team competition with a score of 108, narrowly edging runner-up Darlington with 110 points.
