STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Addison Baierl has been named the administrative assistant for Assistant Director Melissa Gehring at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, beginning her duties on June 8.
Baierl brings a background in athletic administration, coaching and program supervision to her new role. During the past year, she worked in the University of Wisconsin–Platteville Athletics Department while also serving as an assistant coach for the women’s basketball program.
In her role as athletics department assistant, Baierl assisted in the daily operations and coordination of administrative functions. She assisted in coordinating team travel, assisted in organizing student-athlete volunteer initiatives within the community, developed efficiency improvements for athletics concessions, and assisted in event setup and game-day operations.
Among her assistant coach responsibilities, she produced and prepared opponent scouting reports; supported player skill workouts and training sessions; served as an academic coach for student-athletes; developed team leadership sessions; and recruited prospective student-athletes.
Prior to her most recent position, Baierl served as a program supervisor in the Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department during the past three summers. Her responsibilities included assigning instructors, developing curriculum, and confirming participation. Baierl also coordinated the fall soccer program by creating schedules and rosters, ordering apparel, preparing coaches’ meeting agendas and instructing three fitness classes weekly.
Additional work experience includes a five-month internship with the City of Platteville Park & Recreation Department, where she assigned youth and adult instructors, created programming and conducted Senior Center group fitness classes.

Baierl’s responsibilities will include assisting in the coordination of athletic-related services for cross country, girls basketball, volleyball and track & field, as well as the administration of conference realignment and work with the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association.
She graduated from UW-Platteville in May 2025, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Human Performance with an emphasis in Health Promotion/Wellness and minors in both in Coaching and Sport Management. She was a five-year member of the women’s basketball team and a three-year captain. She also served on the Pioneer Student Athletic Advisory Committee and the Team Leadership Group.
Baierl is a 2020 graduate of Columbus Catholic High School in Marshfield, Wis. She was a three-time all-conference selection in basketball and earned all-state honors in 2019-20.
The WIAA, as defined by its Constitution, is a private, voluntary, unincorporated and nonprofit organization. The membership oversees interscholastic athletic programs for 514 senior high schools and 29 junior high/middle level schools in its membership.
