The 21st Annual State Girls Team Tennis Tournament concluded Saturday with Arrowhead winning the Division 1 championship and University School capturing the Division 2 crown.

Arrowhead (18-0) wins its first State title in its first-ever appearance in the State Team Tournament with a 5-2 victory over Neenah in the championship final. The Warhawks’ Emily Kolbow, Teagan Hipp and Paige Schultz won their singles matches. The doubles tandem of Sara Geschke and Kali Flesch won at the #1 flight, and Courtney Shipshock and Tara Tanriverdi won their #2 doubles flight match to clinch the victory.

The Warhawks advanced to the final with a 6-1 win over Eau Claire Memorial in the quarterfinals and a 5-2 win over Nicolet in the semifinals. Neenah finishes runner-up for the fourth time in its 12 State appearances.

University School (16-2) wins its seventh State championship in Division 2 after finishing runner-up last year. The Wildcats have won the title three of that last four years. They defeated defending champion Edgewood 4-3 in the final. Madison Molitor won the #1 singles flight, and Meredith Short and Riley Strauss won the #3 and #4 flights for the Wildcats. Taylor Benard and Julia Veitinger won their #1 doubles flight match, and Caroline Yauck and Riya Sood won their #3 doubles flight in three sets to give the Wildcats the deciding edge.

University School blanked Baldwin-Woodville 7-0 in the semifinals to advance to the finals. The Wildcats’ seven titles ranks third-most among member schools. They have won all seven of their titles since 2004. The Crusaders finish runner-up for the fourth time in their eight appearances at State.
