WAUKESHA, Wis. – Whitefish Bay won the Division 2 team title at the 2025 State Girls Swimming & Diving Championships at the Waukesha South High School Natatorium Friday.
The Blue Dukes won the program’s second team title by successfully defending the championship they won last season by scoring 382 points in the meet. They dominated the meet by claiming titles in eight of the 12 events. Edgewood finished runner-up of the second straight season by scoring 274 points, and Rhinelander was third with 202.5 points.
Whitefish Bay won five individual events, including two each by Anne and Maggie Dickinson. Anne won the 200-yard freestyle for the second straight year, finishing in a time of 1:47.60, which set a Division 2 State Meet record in the event. She was also runner-up in the event in 2023. In addition, she shattered the Division 2 record in winning the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:44.09 to claim the title for the second consecutive season. Her performance was more than 31 seconds faster than the runner-up time in the event.
Maggie Dickinson won 100 backstroke again after winning the event in record time a year ago. She finished in 53.70, which ranks second on the all-time performance list behind last season’s performance of 53.28. She also captured the gold medal in the 50 freestyle for the second year in a row, completing the race in a time of 23.20, which ranks as fifth fastest in meet history.
Aibhy King of Whitefish Bay repeated as the champion in the 100 butterfly in 54.92 to go with a fifth-place standing in 2023. Her time ranks second on the all-time top performances list in the event.
The Blue Dukes won all three relays after entering the meet with the top seed times in each of the races. The quartet of Maggie Dickinson, Kate Antonelli, King and Julia Burrall–the same foursome that swam to the title in the 200 medley relay last year–raced to the championship with a Division 2 record time of 1:44.32. Antonelli, Vivian Utschig, Cassidy Shanks and Anne Dickinson earned the Blue Duke’s 200 freestyle relay its second consecutive championship with a time of 1:37.47. Whitefish Bay closed the competition by winning the 400 freestyle relay with the foursome of King, Shanks, Anne Dickinson and Maggie Dickinson with a time of 3:27.06, which is the third-fastest effort Division 2 history.
Two of the four individual events not won by Whitefish Bay were titles won by defending champions. Cheyenne Borroughs of Stoughton her second-straight championship in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.79. The four-time qualifier also finished runner-up in 2023 and third in 2022. She also earned the gold medal in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:07.49 after she finished runner-up last year.
Hannah Tubbs of the Black River Falls/Blair-Taylor/Alma Center Lincoln co-op earned her second consecutive championship in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.76. She also reached the medal stand in 2023 with a sixth-place finish.
Elsa Nordstrum of Brown Deer/University School of Milwaukee won the diving competition with a score of 421.75 after she placed fourth in 2024, and Annika Leinweber of Whitefish Bay finished second scoring just .10 behind at 421.65 after finishing third last season.
The State Girls Swimming & Diving Championships continue Saturday with the Division 1 competition. The preliminary round in diving begins at 9:30 a.m. with swimming events to begin at 2:30 p.m.
