WAUKESHA, Wis. – Middleton captured the Division 1 team title at the 2025 State Girls Swimming & Diving Championships at the Waukesha South High School Natatorium Saturday.
The Cardinals compiled 363.5 points to win the team championship for the third year in a row and for the sixth time in the program’s history. Arrowhead finished second with 216 points, and Muskego placed third with a score of 192.
In the individual events, Ella Antoniewski of Waukesha South/Mukwonago made State Championships history, becoming the 19th girl to win four titles in an event and only the second swimmer to accomplish the feat in two events. She won her fourth 200-yard freestyle title with a time of 1:48.11 and her fourth 500 freestyle crown in 4:50.79.
Jane Garlock of Middleton won the sprint freestyles, improving on last year’s third-place finish to win the 50 freestyle in a time of 22.77 and racing to a time of 49.12 to win the 100 freestyle after a runner-up standing a season ago, Her teammate, Hanna Jodlowski, won the diving competition with a score of 490.75 as a freshman.
Olivia Sina of Oregon has claimed back-to-back titles in the 100 backstroke, finishing in a time of 54.01 after earning gold in the event last season and third in 2023. Her teammate, Alyse Block, won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:00.81 after a runner-up finish in 2024.
Carolyn Wanezek of Brookfield East, a four-time qualifier in the 100 butterfly, won the championship with a time of 54.77 after placing fifth the past two seasons and eighth in 2022. Annika Curran of Verona, a four-time qualifier in the 100 breaststroke, captured the previously elusive gold medal with a time of 1:01.85 after finishing runner-up the last two seasons and sixth in 2022.
Middleton won all three relays for the second consecutive year to pave the way to the title. The same quartet of Tae Martin, Rian Jost, Brynn Sundell and Sulia Miller that won the championship last year swam to a repeat title in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.83. The 200 freestyle relay team consisting of Miller, Clara Kiehl, Abigail Frommelt and Garlock won gold by finishing with a time of 1:33.97, and the 400 freestyle foursome, including Frommelt, Martin, Sundell and Garlock, won the final race of the meet in a time of 3:23.47.
