Individual Champions Crowned in Gymnastics

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. – The 2019 State Gymnastics Championships concluded with the crowning of individual champions in four events and an all-around competition in two divisions Saturday in Wisconsin Rapids.

In Division 1, junior Gracie Holland of Marshfield won the all-around competition with a score of 37.267, edging out last year's champion Alexis Woida of Middleton, who compiled a score of 37.233 for second place. Senior Krystal Nelson of the Franklin Co-op was third with a score of 37.183.

Holland won the vault competition with a score of 9.567, and Woida was second with a vault of 9.467 after placing third a year ago. Woida won the balance beam with a score of 9.483, and senior Holli Anderson of the Franklin Co-op was second with a mark of 9.317 after she tied for fourth in the event last season.

Sophomore Emily Perkowski of Hartford was crowned champion in the floor exercise with a score of 9.4. Nelson was second in the event with a 9.383. Junior Taylor Raskin of Homestead improved on last season's runner-up finish to win the championship in the uneven bars with a score of 9.417. Nelson was second with a 9.383. 

Sophomore Addie Gallun of Whitefish Bay won two individual events and the all-around in Division 2. She compiled a four-event score of 37.917 in the all-around to improve on last year's runner-up finish. Sophomore Andrea O'Connell of Mount Horeb came in second with a score of 37.3, and freshman Lorisa Shatrawka of River Valley/Barneveld was third with a 36.55

Gallun won the uneven bars for the second straight season, turning in a performance that scored a 9.383. O'Connell came in second with a 9.15. Gallun also claimed the gold medal in the floor exercise with a score of 9.517 following a ninth-place finish in 2018. O'Connell added a runner-up finish with a score of 9.483.

Shatrawka was the winner on the balance beam with a score of 9.567, and Gallun was second in the event for the second straight season, scoring a 9.55.

Senior Payton Jenks-Recker of Monona Grove won the vault with a score of 9.5 with Gallun and O'Connell adding another runner-up finish, tying with a score of 9.467.
