LA CROSSE, Wis. – Kaukauna, Evansville and Aquinas earned championships at the 2026 State Team Wrestling Tournament Saturday at the La Crosse Center.
Top-seed Kaukauna (26-2) won its sixth straight team title in Division 1 with a 31-26 victory over second-seeded Holmen (16-1) in the championship match.
Holmen opened the match winning six of the first seven bouts, but the Galloping Ghosts stormed back by winning all but one weight class in the final seven matches. They recorded one victory by fall in the match. Zach Winnekens pinned his opponent at the 215-pound weight class, and Liam Cook and Brady Sprangers contributed back-to-back technical falls at 175 and 190 to lead the Galloping Ghosts another title.
Kaukauna won its 10th team championship in its membership-leading 24th Team Tournament appearance. The Galloping Ghosts advanced through the bracket to reach the finals with a 53-22 win over Milton in the quarterfinals and a 68-12 victory over Brown Deer Co-op in the semifinals.
Holmen was runner-up in its 14th tourney appearance. The Vikings topped Muskego 53-12 in the quarterfinals and downed Bay Port 37-34 in the semifinals to advance to the final.
In Division 2, top-seeded Evansville (32-1) defeated third-seeded Coleman (21-1) by a final score of 39-29.
Blue Devils’ delivering critical victories by fall included Kolten Bolling at 120, Liam Crandall at 138 and Thomas Heiser at 190. Lincoln Keeler added a technical fall at 150 and Corbin Hoffman recorded a major decision at 175. Coleman received forfeits at the final three weights to draw the Cougars within 10 points on the scoreboard.
Evansville won its first wrestling team championship in the program’s second appearance at the State Tournament as a stand-alone program. The Blue Devils reached the championship match by defeating East Troy 56-19 in the quarterfinals and 2025 champion St. Croix Falls in the semifinals, 38-32.
Coleman, in its 19th State appearance, finishes runner-up in Division 2 for the second straight season after also placing second in Division 3 in 2024. The Cougars defeated Port Washington 50-23 in the semifinals and Gale-Ettrick-Treampealeau/Melrose-Mindoro 33-23 in the semifinals to reach the final.
Fifth-seeded Aquinas (16-3) defeated second-seeded Cedar Grove-Belgium (15-2) 38-32 to win the program’s first team title.
After the Rockets won the first three matches, Martez Sheard got the Blugolds on the board with a pin at 132. Aquinas proceeded to win five straight bouts at the middle weights. Roger Flege and Waylon Hargrove recorded falls at 150 and 165, respectively. Jacob Penzkover added a technical fall at 157, and Tyler Paulson contributed with a major decision at 144.
Aquinas won the title in its first appearance in the State Team Tournament. The Blugolds scored a 45-30 win over Marathon in the quarterfinals and beat last year’s runner-up Weyauwega-Fremont 36-33 in the semifinals to reach the title match.
Cedar Grove Belgium finished runner-up in its fourth State experience. The Rockets defeated former defending champion Mineral Point 42-31 in the quarterfinals before ousting Auburndale 35-30 in the semifinals.
