WAUKESHA, Wis. – Middleton won the Division 1 team championship, and six event records were set at the 2023 State Boys Swimming & Diving Championships Waukesha South High School Natatorium Saturday.

Senior Jack Madoch of Middleton won four events to help propel the Cardinals to the title. He shattered the Division 1 State Meet record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 19.61 after finishing runner-up in the event last season. Madoch teamed with senior Nick Chirafisi, and freshmen Caden Van Buren and Max Carter to defend the crown the Cardinals won in the 200 freestyle relay last season. They posted a winning time of 1:22.74, which is the second-fastest ever recorded in the State Meet.

Madoch struck gold again with Chirafisi, senior Theo Wolf and freshman Sam Wolf, racing to the championship in the 400 freestyle relay with a State Meet record time of 3:01.71. It’s the second consecutive season the Cardinals have won the event.
