The National Federation of State High School Associations has launched an initiative today on social media about the benefits of participation in high school activities.

The program parallels the WIAA’s efforts introduced over the summer to enhance support for high school athletics and increase participation in school-based sport programs. Our “Why I Play,” “Why I Coach,” “Why I Officiate” social media campaign each Wednesday features testimonials of Wisconsin individuals engaged  in high school sports.

The NHFS campaign called “#MyReasonWhy” also showcases the tremendous value of high school sports has on the lives of student-athletes on a national level with involvement of all 51 state associations. The program highlights diverse and engaging stories told by student-athletes, parents, coaches, officials and community members. 

We share in the belief that the benefits of high school sports extend far beyond the field, court, mat or pool. They teach lifelong lessons in hard work, perseverance, team work, leadership skills, sportsmanship and citizenship.

The NFHS has asked us to assist in introducing and promoting the “#MyReasonWhy” campaign and encourage our member schools to help share Wisconsin student-athletes’ “MyReasonWhy” that will be shared with a nationwide audience. We encourage student-athletes to share their reasons why they choose to be involved in high school sports and any influential moments. To share your story and participate in the NFHS “MyReasonWhy” campaign, visit nfhs.org/myreasonwhy, or use the hashtag #MyReasonWhy on your own social media.

Stories will be selected by the NFHS on a rolling basis throughout the year to be featured within the national campaign. Everyone is invited to share their photos, videos and stories.
