Divisions 1 and 2 Teams Advance to Boys Soccer Championship Saturday

In Division 1 the Marquette Hilltoppers (15-2) advance with a 3-2 victory over the Madison West Regents (15-2-3).  The first goal of the game is credited to the Hilltoppers’ John Bradford in the 13th minute.  The Regents quickly answer with a goal of their own from Sam Rumbelow in the 14th minute.  Alex Philippe, the leading scorer for the Regents this season, scored in the 37th minute.  Marquette gets the winning goal in the 85th minute from Sam Holton.  The Regents final goal came in the 88th minute from Nate Brady. Marquette had 19 shots compared to 8 for Madison West.  The Hilltoppers will face the Arrowhead Warhawks (21-1-3) who eliminated the Kimberly Papermakers (16-3-3).  Leading scorer for the Warhawks Blake Carr scored in the 11th minute.  The 2nd goal goes to Carr’s teammate Luke Dubnicka in the 24th minute.  In the 40th minute Arrowhead’s Matt Driscoll puts one in the net.  Carr gets his 2nd goal in the 51 seconds into the second half.  Suhad Ansari gets the Papermakers on the board in the 49th minute.  Shots for Arrowhead 10 and 11 for Kimberly

In Division 2 the Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes (22-2-1) advance in a 7-0 shutout over the Milton Red Hawks (14-6-2).  Blue Dukes’ goals were scored by seven different players, Evan Conway 18th minute, Jackson Dryden 22nd minute, Clay Vichich 35th minute, Zavier Ware 46th minute, Noah Neitzel 62nd minute and John Helf in the 84th minute.  Great defensive play by the Blue Dukes had them outshooting the Red Hawks 32-1.  The Blue Dukes will take on the Cedarburg Bulldogs (19-0-4) who defeated the River Falls Wildcats (14-6-2) 2-1 in overtime.  The Bulldogs were first on the board with a goal from Sam Korentzke on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute. Damian Overby of River Falls scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute that forced the overtime period.  The game-winning goal in the 105th minute is credited to the Blue Dukes’ Henry Brzycki.  Shots for Cedarburg 21 and 13 for River Falls.
