Face/Body Paint and Cross Country

With many conference meets scheduled for this week and the sectional
tournament next weekend coaches and athletes should be aware that WIAA
regulations prohibit the use of face and body paint during competition.  The
WIAA Coaches Advisory Committee discussed this issue several years ago,
citing the integrity of the sport as a reason to prohibit painting the face
and/or body.  Athletes attempting to check-in with "Variations from marks
under eyes (like football), to painted like Lions & Tigers, clown noses, and
war paint," must remove the paint in order to participate in the race.

It is permissible to use temporary tattoos (commonly the school mascot) on
the body or face.
