Black Hawk/Warren (14-0) won the Division 7 title with a 6-0 shutout over Edgar at the WIAA State Football Championships at Camp Randall Stadium Thursday morning.

The only score of the game came on 30-yard pass from Ethan Williams to Cayden Milz with 1:38 remaining in the first half. The play was set-up by 53-yard run by Jalen Rufenacht on the previous play. The game set the Division 7 championship game record for fewest points scored by both teams.

It appeared as if Edgar may have tied the game midway through the fourth quarter, but a Wildcats’ 33-yard pass for an apparent score was negated by a holding penalty, and a pass to the end zone that went through the hands of the intended receiver in the same series of downs.

Rufenacht was the game’s leading rusher with 101 yards on 18 carries for the Warriors, and Williams completed 9-of-16 passes for 102 yards. Milz caught two passes for a team-high 48 yards. The Warriors’ stellar defensive effort surrendered just 141 yards of total offense to the Wildcats. Milz also led the Warriors on defense with a team-high eight tackles.

Kaleb Hafferman led the Wildcats on the ground with 44 yards on 16 carries. Konnor Wolf completed 4-of-13 passes for 33 yards. Carson Lemmer was the game's leading tackler with 14 tackles for the Ramblers

It’s the first championship for the Black Hawk/Warren co-op, but Black Hawk won the title last season as a stand-alone program and was runner-up in 2017. Black Hawk also won the title in 2013. Edgar (12-2) finishes runner-up for the second straight season and for the sixth time overall in their 13 appearances in the final.
