Pius XI Catholic, Oregon, Marquette and University School of Milwaukee Win Boys Soccer Titles

The final game of the 2018 Boys State Soccer Tournament featured the #1 seed University School of Milwaukee Wildcats and the #2 seed Amery Warriors.  The Wildcats will be adding a gold ball to their trophy case after defeating the Warriors 2-1.  The Wildcats first two goals were kicked in by Matias Dermond in the 10th and 34th minutes, the first unassisted and the second was assisted by Donovan Jones. Amery puts their first goal in the net in the 51st minute from Bryce German, unassisted. Saves for Mason Helbig of Amery 7 and for Evan Bolton of University School 3.  This was the 4th trip to State for University School of Milwaukee and the 2nd for Amery.  

The Division 1 title goes to 4-time returning champion Marquette Hilltoppers (#1 seed) with their 3-0 shut out of the Hamilton Chargers (#2 seed). Goals for Marquette came from Thomas Bruneau in the 4th minute, assist credited to Luke Thew; Gabe Anguil in the 50th and 55th minutes, assists to Bruneau and Miguel Herrera respectively.  Saves for Grant Frohna of Hamilton 6 and for Carter Abbott of Marquette 5. This was Marquette's 18th trip to the State tournament and the first for Hamilton.

In Division 2 the title goes to Oregon (2nd seed) with a 3-1 win over New Berlin Eisenhower (4th seed). After a 0-0 end to the first period, Oregon came out strong with a 3-goal scoring streak.  In the 55th minute Madison Conduah kicks one in the goal, unassisted.  Conduah scores again in the 68th minute, assist from Collin Bjerke.  Colin McCombs gets Oregon's final goal in the 71st minute on a penalty kick.  Eisenhower's Adam Joda puts his team on the board in the 80th minute, assist to Jake DeFrance. Saves for Jordan Powell of Eisenhower 5 and for Duncan Morgan of Oregon 2. This was Oregon's 9th trip to State and it was the 2nd for Eisenhower. Oregon was runner-up in 2017.

The Division 3 battle between top seed McFarland Spartans and second seed Pius XI Catholic Popes has the Popes taking home the golden ball with a 3-1 victory over the Spartans.  McFarland's Caleb Blair put their first and only goal in the net in the 4th minute with the assist credited to Brett Conner.  Three different players for Pius get their names in the scorebook for goals; Mason Waas in the 28th minute, assist from Ivan Cuellar, Chris Quinto in the 60th minute, Cuellar assist and Rey Sprewer in the 72nd minute, assist to Quinto.  Saves for Nick Smerz of Pius 6 and for Matt Schutt of McFarland 4.  This was the second trip to State for both teams.
