Boys State Soccer - Championship Recap

Division 1 championship was another thriller.  After two overtime periods between Muskego (22-4-2) and Green Bay Preble (23-3-2) Muskego wins in a 4-2 shootout.  This was Green Bay Preble's 8th trip to State with their most recent in 2011 when they lost in the quarterfinal.  This was Muskego's 7th trip and their most recent was in 2009 when they won the Division 1 championship.

Division 2 had an exciting finish to their tournament.  Cedarburg (15-4-3) and Oregon (16-3-3) kept the crowd on their feet as they battled through two overtime periods.  Oregon was crowned the Division 2 champion in a 4-3 shootout.  This was Oregon's 6th trip to State.  Their last appearance was in 2012 where they lost in the semifinal.  This was Cedarburg's 9th trip to State and their last appearance was in 1996 when they won the Division 1 title.

Ashland (27-1) in their first trip to State is crowned the Division 3 champion in a 1-0 victory over Notre Dame de la Baie (21-4-4).  Ashland's goal came from Robert Quinlan in the 48th minute on a penalty kick.  This was the 7th trip to State for Notre Dame, their last appearance came in 2012 and they were defeated in the semifinal. 

Division 4's first champion is University School of Milwaukee (20-2-3).  They defeated The Prairie School (16-5-3) with the only goal of the game coming from Nate Sampson in the 42nd minute.  This was University School's 2nd trip to State, there first coming in 2007 where they lost in the semifinal.  This was The Prairie School's 6th trip to State, with their most recent appearance in 2011 when they won the Division 3 title.

Saturday's attendance for the first session was 1,415 and the second session was 1,961.  The three-day total attendance was 9,024.
