Sportsmanship Plus - Softball

Onalaska @ Tomah
May 9, 2024

I wanted to take a moment to thank Coach Wall and Coach Heit for their work leading the softball programs at Tomah and Onalaska. The sportsmanship displayed by these two teams was outstanding. Madison Johnson, your hustle and positive words of encouragement towards your teammates was noticed. Pitarre Olson, your positive attitude was contagious. It was great to be part of this high school game.

Sauk Prairie @ DeForest
May 9, 2024

The stadium was full, and the weather was perfect for soccer. From the beginning whistle, the teams played physical but with respect for the opposing team. When an opponent went down, there was a girl from the other team helping her up. Questions about calls were asked respectfully, and the girls thanked the officials at halftime at the end of the game. With two evenly matched teams, it is no surprise that the score ended in a draw, 0-0.

Assumption @ Stratford
May 9, 2024

We feel the need to make sure both communities involved in this game know how amazing their respective teams are being coached. The players, coaches and  fans were 100 percent what WIAA sports are to be. Sportsmanship on both sides. Coaches congratulating the opposing squad. Bottle it up! We need more. Please acknowledge both teams regardless of the score and outcome. Thanks for providing the atmosphere and the support for high school sports.

Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah @ Hilbert
May 6, 2024

Ayden Keuler and Max Schneider of the Hilbert, and Cole Wagner and Colin Meiselwitz for the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulahare four young men who appreciate and share positive sportsmanship with others. Thank you for supporting players from the other team by picking up their bats, offering them a kind word, and showing hustle after foul balls when it isn’t asked of you. Your kind gestures were noticed by the umpires, parents and administrators and are greatly appreciated. The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah and Hilbert school district administrators should be proud of their respectful student-athletes and coaches. Keep up the great work and have a fun season!

Regis @ Pittsville
May 3, 2024

I was the plate umpire for the game, and I know I missed some pitches that were pitched on the outside corner. Not one complaint, or face of disappointment on the batters face. We were treated with nothing but respect by the coaches and the players. Pittsville is a class act program. A pleasure doing the game last night.

Little Chute @ Berlin
April 29,2024

As AR2, I was on the fans' side of the field and I can attest to the fact ALL of their comments were positive, which is the way it should be -- but this was 100 percent of the time! I'd like to also acknowledge #12 from Little Chute. As their sweeper, I was on her side of the field during the second half and she was nice to everyone, including her teammates, opponents, a couple times with me, and twice to the Berlin fans, when she accidentaly kicked the ball out of bounds in their direction.

Wonewoc-Center @ Royall
May 1, 2024

We would like to recognize and congratulate Royall’s Tucker Wildes for his outstanding sportsmanship and leadership displayed during their baseball game against Wonewoc-Center. Throughout the contest Tucker maintained a positive attitude, always encouraging his fellow teammates. Tucker, the starting catcher, on several occasions was observed mentoring the Wonewoc-Center catcher in techniques used as a catcher, i.e., proper positioning for throws to the plate or how to block low pitches to keep them from getting away. It should also be noted that Tucker is the coach for the Royall summer baseball program, teaching and mentoring boys and girls on the fundamentals of baseball, but also how to be good sports.

Mayville @ Winneconne
April 26, 2024

It is wonderful to see student athletes exhibit positive acts of sportsmanship before, during, and after a varsity baseball game, even when the weather is poor, rainy, and windy. Mayville’s Peyton Borchardt and Mason Gerth, as well as Winneconne’s Lucky Pahl and Ben Tesch, exemplify what it means to be great sportsman and leaders of a team. We wanted to congratulate these four young men for this much appreciated display of showmanship and positive attitude. Thank you to Coach Meyer and Coach Held for your positive leadership on and off the field of play, it was noticed by many.

Manitowoc Lincoln @ Green Bay Southwest
April 14, 2024

We were greeted by the host athletic director, Amy Hogan. We were very impressed with the new baseball field that the Green Bay Southwest had installed. Even more impressive was the service that Ms. Hogan provided to us. We were scheduled for a double-header and she provided us with sandwiches along with choice of chips and candy bar. Also beverages of water or sport drink were provided in between the two games. We would like to personally wish Ms. Hogan the best as she is retiring after this school year. We also would like to thank both teams for displaying good sportsmanship. Again it was a pleasure working for these schools and want to wish them the best of luck for the rest of their seasons.
