Arrowhead, The Prairie School Win Girls Golf Team Titles

The 46th WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament concluded with the crowning of two team champions and two individual medalists at University Ridge in Madison Tuesday.

Last year’s runner-up Arrowhead won the Division 1 team championship with a four-player score of 624 for the 36-hole tournament. Middleton finished second with a score of 675, and Onalaska placed third with a score of 335.

Sophomore Emily Lauterbach of Arrowhead won the Division 1 individual championship with a 2-under-par 142 after tying for 13th place last season. Senior Alexis Thomas of Middleton finished five strokes back with a score of 147 after placing fourth last year. Defending champion, senior Ashley Kulka of Beaver Dam, was third at 150.

The Prairie School decisively defended the team title in Division 2 with a score of 687, which was 50 strokes better than its next closest competitor Spooner at 737. Hayward finished third with a score of 741.  

Senior Sarah Busey of Racine St. Catherine’s won the Division 2 individual title with a 7-over par 151 after finishing third two years ago, Senior Lori Meyer of Freedom, who placed tied for sixth last season, finished second with a score 155. Grace Welch of Edgewood was third with a score of 164.

State Girls Golf Tournament Preview

The 45th Annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls State Golf Championships will be held Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10-11, at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis. Competition will begin at 8 a.m. on both days.
