Sportsmanship Plus - Girls Basketball

Oneida Nation @ St. Thomas Aquinas
Nov. 28, 2017

The sportsmanship and hard work displayed by both teams was incredible. The two teams played hard and fair and displayed what sportsmanship is all about. I especially applauded St. Thomas Aquinas. They played with just six players and never gave up as they battled right to the end. Both coaches were positive all night long and worked to improve their teams.

Sportsmanship Plus - Girls Basketball

Madison Country Day School @ Argyle
Nov. 21, 2017

We witnessed some of the best sportsmanship we have seen. Both coaches Kurt Ritschard (Argyle) and Tyson Rudd (Madison Country Day School) were busy coaching their teams and when we made calls, they were more concerned about coaching the girls and correcting the errors committed. As the game proceeded, Coach Rudd spent a lot of time being extremely positive with his team and working on the positive aspects of their play. He was also very complimentary of the opponents play. At one point he wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  After the game both teams made it a point to thank us for working their game and gave us each a high five or fist bump as they walked by. It was nice to see the players from both teams in good spirits and friendly after a contest.

Kaukauna @ Germantown
Oct. 17, 2017

I would like to recognize the outstanding sportsmanship by Kaukauna's captian, Ben Brochtrup. It was evident that his teammates respect him and what he brings to the team as they responded to his leadership throughout the match. When he did have questions about a call or play, he was always respectful and professional in the manner that he interacted with officials. Great to see a young man of his character out on the court!

Sportsmanship Plus - Football

Hamilton @ Madison West
Oct. 20, 2017

From the time the ball was kicked off until the end of the game there were countless acts of good sportsmanship. Our crew was extremely impressed with the professionalism of both coaching staffs to include all assistant coaches. There were numerous tough decisions to make in this game and the coaches were questioning things in a professional manner but never with a negative tone or negative demeanor. Football officials always appreciate this kind of classy behavior and we just appreciated this type of effort and extension of the classroom behavior in a post-season contest. Great job and huge kudos to both Madison West and Hamilton football programs for a job well done.

Northland Lutheran @ Arcadia
Oct. 21, 2017

I want to thank both teams that I had the privilege to officiate this afternoon. The coaches, players and fans showed excellent sportsmanship before, during and after the match.  Bruce Schweisthal started things off by welcoming the officials to the field and provided information about the field and introduced the clock operator. During the game, both the head coach for Arcadia, Luis Cruz, and the head coach for Northland Lutheran, Bryce Zimmerman, treated the officials respectfully. The crowds for both teams cheered for their team and showed an ample amount of respect for their opponents. The players from the teams played hard but fairly and helped members of both teams off of the turf. Following the match, the players and coaches thanked us for officiating the game. Both teams should be commended for the school culture of sportsmanship that their behavior demonstrated today.
