State Boys Soccer Championships - Day 2 Action

Division 3
Division 3 semifinals started the day with a battle between the Rice Lake Warriors and the Mount Horeb Vikings. Mount Horeb advances by virtue of 4-3 shootout. A 1-1 tie remained after 20 minutes of overtime. The Warrior’s Zach Buchli scored in the 24th minute with the assist coming from Hunter Holmes. The Viking’s Jaden Neumann scored in the 58th minute from a corner kick. Saves for Seth Kurzynski of Rice Lake 9 and for Max Handrich of Mount Horeb 3. This is Mount Horeb’s 5th trip to state. Their most recent trip was in 2015 when they beat Rice Lake 1-0 for the championship title.
In the second Division 3 semifinal, Delavan-Darien advances to the championship with a 5-1 victory over Seymour. Scoring for the Comets of Delavan-Darien in the 35th minute was Gerardo Rodriguez with the assist credited to Pablo Martinez and Tigris Huerta. In the 46th minute Martinez tapped the ball in for the Comets, assist coming from Jamie Rodriguez. The next two goals for Delavan-Darien were unassisted by Zeus Hureta in the 48th minute and Jamie Rodriguez in the 67th minute. The Seymour Thunder’s Dalton Lehrer, assist by Brock Volkmar, puts one in the net on a header at the far post off a 30 yard free kick. Huerta gets his second goal of the game in the 84th minute. Saves for Michael Koehne of Seymour 8 and for Ricardo Huerta of Delavan-Darien 1. This is Delavan-Darien’s 8th trip to state. Their most recent was in 2014 when they won the Division 3 title.
Division 2
In the first Division 2 semifinal the Elkhorn Elks advance to the championship by eliminating the New Richmond Tigers 2-1. The Tigers were the first to score in the 11th minute by a chested cross through the box by Sean Flandrick with the assist coming from Zach Landt. Sid Babu gets credit for both goals for Elkhorn; the first was unassisted in the 11th minute and the game winning shot was in the 71st minute with that assist going to Bryant Romero. Blake Getschel of New Richmond had 4 saves and Teyatzin Aranda had 0 for Elkhorn. This is Elkhorn’s 2nd trip to state. Their 1st trip was in 2011 when they lost in the semifinal.
The final game of the day was the second Division 2 semifinal between the Waukesha West Wolverines and the Blue Dukes of Whitefish Bay. Jackson Dryden of Whitefish Bay scores first from a header in the box off a long free kick with the assist credited to Matthew Comiskey in the 15th minute. Cameron Roessler of Waukesha West ties the game in the 69th minute on a header goal with the assist from Mark Durand. After a long hard run Dryden scores his 2nd goal of the game in the 87th minute, assist from Nick Anguil-Andriacchi. Saves for German Ferreira of Waukesha West 4 and for Elian Haddock of Whitefish Bay 1. This is Whitefish Bay's 13th trip to State. Their most recent was in 2015 when they won the Division 2 title.
