The sportsmanship observed from the host school Portage was awesome. There was NO in your face talking by either team. The players laid up on QB's rather than using bumping etc. to intimidate. Both teams were helping each other up and when a couple of players were injured the kids from Portage were requesting the trainer and doctor and athletic trainer before we as officials could call it out. We had a total of 4 penalties in the whole game. As we saw players getting close to committing fouls we talked to players and that was the last time. The behaviors from the fans for both teams and the coaches cheered and coached their teams. They were only worried about their own teams and the sidelines were nothing but positive. Our wing officials turned around to see who was on the sidelines as there was no "Chirping." When the game ended I commented that everyone just played football allowing us to officiate and the result was a fantastic game.
