Shoelace Interpretation

Question: Wrestler A reports to the mat with shoe laces that are double-knotted and taped together. Is this a technical violation?
Answer: According to a recent interpretation by the NFHS, they should be taped to the shoe, or secured with a locking device. This is not how it was explained by our state association in the interpretation video. We will continue throughout this season to allow laces to be taped together. Next season, in the video, we will properly explain the recent interpretation and follow the guidelines brought forth by the NFHS.
