Overtime - Using NCAA Procedure

Q: I have a question regarding one of the rulings on the Overtime Play Situations link Page 5 situation 4. It states: During the top of the inning, Team B gains possession and then loses possession to Team A, which (a) scores a touchdown; (b) does not score a touchdown. RULING: (a) The score counts but no try is attempted, Team A’s half inning ends and Team B begins its half inning. In (b), Team A’s half inning ends and Team B begins its half inning.
My question is why wouldn't Team A be allowed the extra point attempt in (a) as they recovered Team B's fumble and scored a touchdown. Was it different in an earlier edition?
A: It traces back to the idea that once A loses possession, its series is over. The fact they regained possession and scored a touchdown is a “bonus” but it was not scored during its possession series. A must score a touchdown during its possession series to get a try.
Yes, we corrected it when the NCAA tweaked the rule which serves as the model for our overtime procedure.
In AR 3-1-3 VI, in part (a), if Team A scores a Touchdown then they will attempt the try. In part (b), Team A’s possession series is over and there is no try.
