Hayward Co-op 6, Beloit Memorial Co-op 1

The Hayward Co-op (20-8) advances to the championship final with a 6-1 victory over the Beloit Memorial Co-op in the semifinals Friday afternoon.

Amber Heidenreich scored four goals to power the Hurricanes offense. Her first score came on a power play at 1:58 of the first period with assists from Jenna Curtis and Harley Kinney. Kinney gave the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead at 7:28 with a goal off assists from Sarah Pearson and Autumn Fenske. The Fury scored before the end of the period at 15:15 on a goal by Maggy Henschler assisted by Ally Burke and Kayla Kaufman to cut the deficit to 2-1.

An Alex Grubbs power-play goal at 1:06 of the second period extended the Fury’s lead back to two at 3-1 with assists credited to Fenske and Heidenreich. Heidenreich recorded her second goal at 11:00 in the second period with an assist to Gabby Tremblay.

Heidenreich scored both goals scored in the third period for the Hurricanes. Her score at 4:58 came unassisted, and Kinney assisted on the goal at 12:14 to finish the scoring.

Lauren Tremblay posted 14 saves in goal for the Hurricanes with Cat Hopper recording two saves in reserve. Molly Gross compiled 32 saves for the Fury (16-11-1).

The Hurricanes return to the title game for the second straight season after finishing runner-up last year. 

University School of Milwaukee Co-op 4, D. C. Everest Co-op 2

University School Co-op (23-3-2) advances to the championship final with a 4-2 victory over the D. C. Everest Co-op (21-5-1).

Nicole Unsworth of University School scored her first of three goals in the first period at 9:27 assist from Abby Hentzen, her second goal came in the 2nd period at 4:36 unassisted and her third goal to seal the hat trick came at 16:33 of the second period on an assist from Caitlin McBride.  The fourth goal for University School came from Lexie Epperson in the third period at 13:28 with assists being credited to Karly Lamoreaux and Hannah Neudorfer.

D. C Everest’s two goals came from Katelynn Schilling in the 2nd period at 1:51, assist from Angie Stroik and in the third period at 6:22 with the assist from Teagan Tretter.

Marie Dedert of University School had 21 saves and Chloe Westberg of D. C. Everest had 12 saves.

The Wildcats will skate for a back-to-back title in the final against Hayward, the same team they played for the title last year.
