Q - The interpretation video showed the offensive wrestler can be out of the 28 foot circle and score if the defensive wrestlers supporting points are in, the book does not support this. What do we believe?

A - The book supports this rule change. Rule 5.15.2b&c. "near-fall and fall points shall be earned only while the supporting points of either wrestler are in-bounds."  The script on page 59 "clarifies the definition of a fall " is incorrect. The word "offensive" should be changed to "either". The NFHS made some editing mistakes, that is not a good thing, but it happens. Again on page 60, at the top of page, it correctly states the rule once again. I made a pictured handout that is available on the website that reinforces this. Also, the case book has some old interpretations regarding earning near falls that are no longer applicable.  Please go to the website and notice that I posted these situations for you to delete.
