RULE INTERPRETATION – Jerseys – NFHS Point of Emphasis
There is a difference between the jersey being rolled up deliberately; the jersey being altered; and/or the jersey being illegal out of the box and the jersey riding up accidentally. If you determine at the start of the game, and the start of the second half that the uniforms are in compliance with the jersey regulations, the uniforms are legal. When the players get tackled, pushed, and/or pulled during the game and some of the shoulder pads pop out to become slightly exposed, use preventative officiating. The players should pull the jersey down and make sure the pad is covered for the next play.
