GENEVA NATIONAL TO HOST 2027 STATE BOYS GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association announced the 2027 State Boys Golf Championships will be played at the Lee Trevino Golf Course at Geneva National in Lake Geneva, Wis., on June 6-7.
"We are thrilled to bring the 2027 WIAA Boys Golf State Tournament to Geneva National," WIAA Executive Director Stephanie Hauser said. "This venue offers an exceptional, championship-caliber experience that our student-athletes, coaches, and fans will thoroughly enjoy. We appreciate Geneva National's partnership and enthusiasm in stepping up to host this premier event."
The Trevino Course opened in 1991 and was designed by golf legend Lee Trevino, who captured six major championships and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1981. The course underwent substantial renovation in 2024 to modernize the layout. The par-72 course covers 7,120 yards and features a rolling country setting. It was selected as one of the Top 25 Public Golf Courses in the U.S. by Golfers' Choice 2025.
Geneva National has hosted the Wisconsin State Senior Open, Wisconsin PGA regional tournaments and sectional qualifiers, the Wisconsin State Open and several LPGA Championships.
“Destination Geneva National and the Town of Geneva, Wis., are beyond excited to bring the 101st WIAA Boys High School State Championships to our resort and lakefront town in June 2027,” said Glen Murray, PGA chief operating officer of Destination Geneva National. “Geneva National recently celebrated 35 years of play on the Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Lee Trevino courses.
“All three of the 18-hole courses have a championship pedigree and a history of statewide, regional, and national spectator events,” he said. “The opportunity to test Wisconsin’s best high school golfers on Mr. Trevino’s course, which puts a premium on superior ball striking, will be a true joy for our resort and club members.”
The championships have been played on many courses during the 100-year history of the event, including Blackwolf Run in Kohler from 2022-24 and University Ridge in Madison the past two years. University Ridge will host the American Family Insurance Championships in June through 2030, prompting a change in venue for the State Boys Golf Championships.
