Eau Claire Memorial 5, Antigo Co-op 1

Eau Claire Memorial  (23-3-2) overcame an early deficit to defeat Antigo 5-1 in its quarterfinal match Thursday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

The Old Abes surrendered a power play goal two minutes into the contest when Gavin Bunnell scored for the Red Robins on assists from Arin VerHagen and Andrew Turunen at 2:18 of the first period.

Memorial responded with three goals in the second period. Ben Zacho scored at 2:49 of the period with assists from Andrew Emberson and Josh Berg. The Old Abes added a pair of goals within a minute of each other later in the period. Dylan Ross scored his second goal on an assist from Jacob Hudecek at 9:33, and Sam Hanson netted the puck at 10:21 with an assist from Tom Berg.

The two third period goals were scored by Ross at 8:21 from Dawson Schwengle and Hanson, and by Tom Berg, who closed the scoring at 11:13 with help from Hanson’s second assist.

Trevor Hudecek made 17 saves in goal for the Old Abes, and Ben Bartletti recorded 27 stops for the Red Robins (23-4-1).

Appleton East Co-op 6, University School 0

The Appleton East Co-op (25-2) used a pair of first period power play goals to propel the United to a 6-0 victory over University School in the quarterfinals Thursday afternoon.

Trenton Bliss scored the first goal at 8:44 on assists from Erik Bargholtz and Connor Zilisch. Zilisch added a goal of his own for the second power play goal at the 12:51 mark of the first period. Michael Alfaro and Kieran Brosnan assisted on the goal.

Lucas McKinnon led a barrage of scoring for the United in the second period. He scored at the 5:24 mark with assists coming from Zilisch and Alfaro. He scored again at 7:48 off another Alfaro assist. Matthew Baker added a goal at 8:58 with assists coming from Ben Thomas and Alfaro’s fourth of the game. McKinnon added the final score to record a hat trick at 14:51, which was assisted by Zilisch and Keegan Gallup.

Dylan Phinney made 15 saves in goal for the United, and Mac Schmidt compiled 42 saves for the Wildcats (19-7-2).

Hudson 4, Onalaska 1

Hudson (24-4) advances to the semifinals with a 4-1 win over Onalaska in its quarterfinal Thursday evening.

The Raiders led 4-0 before yielding a Hilltopper score with under a minute remaining in the game.

Carter Schuett put the Raiders in front at the 8:56 mark of the first period with a goal assisted by Chase Blackmun and Tanner Gornick. Later in the first period, Walter Brose scored with an assist from Jack Flattum at 12:57.

In the second period, Aaron Squires found the net with another assist from Blackmun. His score came at the 5:04 mark. Bradley Jacobson capped the Raider scoring with an unassisted goal at 6:02 of the second period.

The lone Onalaska (24-4) score came at 16:19 of the third period with a Jacob Dirks goal that was assisted by Parker Tepp.

 Anthony Howard was credited with the win in goal with 17 saves for the Raiders. Hayes Weiner made 22 stops for the Hilltoppers.

Waukesha North Co-op 4, Edgewood 2

Waukesha North Co-op (23-3-2) came back from a 2-0 deficit to post a 4-2 triumph over Edgewood (19-6-3) Thursday evening to advance to the semifinals.

Justin Dragoo gave the Crusaders a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal late in the first period with assists from Grant Reichenbach and Blake Richter at 16:20. Edgewood appeared to be in good position to take control of the game midway through the second period. Aaron Ring scored on another power play with assists from Dragoo and Bryce Ternus to give the Crusaders a 2-0 advantage at the 7:20 mark of the second period.

The momentum shifted to the Wings with two late power-play goals in the second period. Wyatt Wildermann scored an unassisted goal at 14:56, and Ian Malcolmson evened the score at 2-2 with 12 seconds remaining in the period on a power play assisted by Kevin Broda and Jacob Berry.  

Joziah Dietrich gave the Waukesha North Co-op its first lead in the game with a goal at the 7:43 point of the third period. Berry and Wildermann were credited with assists on the score. Wildermann added an insurance goal at 11:30 with assists from Ben Sorge and Broda.

The Wings were 2-5 on the power play, and the Crusaders scored twice on their four power-play chances. Tommy Mohs recorded 27 saves for Edgewood, and Garrett Larsen made 24 saves for the Wings.
