Board of Control and Advisory Council Special Election Announcement

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – A special election will be held for the gender at-large position (female) on the Board of Control and for the gender at-large (female) and non-public school positions on the Advisory Council.
All positions are for 3-year terms. The Board of Control position is open due to Colleen Timm no longer being able to fill the gender spot she was elected to in the spring. The Advisory Council positions are available with no announced candidates during the spring election process.
District administrators, high school principals and assistants at these levels who are interested in being a candidate should state their intention via a letter of interest to Joan Gralla ([email protected]) at the WIAA office. Please note that candidates must have:
1) Department of Public Instruction licensure allowing placement in the eligible set
2) Must be employed full-time or part-time in a qualifying position, and
3) Cannot be members of the teachers' bargaining unit

The time line of the special election process is as follows:
July 16, 2018 -- Announce that declarations of candidacy will be accepted.
Aug. 6, 2018 -- Deadline for filing declarations of intent to run.
Aug. 8, 2018 -- If more than twice as many candidates file, a primary election will be held and the primary ballot mailed to schools on this date. If a primary is not needed the general election ballot will be sent on this date.
Aug. 22, 2018 -- Deadline for returning primary election ballot. If a primary is not needed the general election ballot will be due back on this date.
Aug. 24, 2018 -- If primary is needed, general election ballots will be sent.
Sept. 7, 2018 -- If primary is needed, deadline for returning general election ballots.
Sept. 14, 2018 -- Successful candidate will be seated for the Board of Control meeting.
Oct. 4, 2018 -- Successful candidate will be seated for the Advisory Council meeting. Interested and eligible candidates should send or email a letter declaring their candidacy to the attention of Joan Gralla at the WIAA office [email protected]by the Aug. 6, 2018 deadline.
