2016 State Girls Hockey Champion Crowned

Hayward Co-op 4, University School of Milwaukee Co-op 1
After a scoreless first period, both teams put points on the board in the second period. Hayward scores the first goal at 2:33 from Amber Heidenreich with an assist from Jenna Curtis. Hayward goes on the board again at 14:46 with a goal from Rikki Saletri with her assist coming from Kaelin Laub. University School answers with a goal of their own at 15:41 from Hannah Gold assisted by Rachel Hoge. The Hayward Hurricanes end the period with a goal at 16:10 from Autumn Fenske with the assist credited to Gabby Tremblay.
The only goal in the third period came from Hayward’s Sam Stegmann with an assist from Curtis and Heidenreich at 8:02.
Saves for Lauren Trembly of Hayward 27 and for Marie Dedert of University School 22.
Hayward wins the 2016 State Girls Hockey Championship by defeating University School 4-1. Hayward finished runner-up to University School in the 2015 State Championship final.
