In Division 2, Xavier downed defending champion Mount Horeb  to win the title with a 3-0 victory, and St. Anthony was crowned the Division 3 champion for the first time with a 4-1 triumph over Winnebago Lutheran in the championship game.

THE DIVISION 1 FIELD:  This will be the 13th trip to the State Tournament for Madison West. The Regents’ last appearance came in 2008. They have won three State titles, including back-to-back championships in 1987-88 and another in 1984. They have also recorded runner-up finishes in 1990 and 1986. The Regents are the representative from the Badger Sectional with a 2-0 shutout over Kettle Moraine in the final. Green Bay Preble returns to the State Tournament for the eighth time and for the second time in the last three seasons. By qualifying in the four-team format, the Hornets match their furthest advance in the tournament, which came with semifinal appearances in 2001 and 2002. They defeated Eau Claire Memorial 1-0 in the final of the Stevens Point Sectional to earn their berth in the field.  Muskego returns to State for the seventh time and for the first time since 2009 when the Warriors won the Division 1 championship. They have two runner-up finishes as well, in 2005 and 2008. They blanked Kenosha Bradford 5-0 in the Kenosha Tremper Sectional final to advance to the State semifinals. This will be the fourth trip to the State Tournament for Arrowhead. The Warhawks last appearance also came in 2009. They have advanced to the title game once in their previous appearances, resulting in a runner-up finish in 1985. Arrowhead is the representative from the Germantown Sectional following its 1-0 victory over Germantown in the final.

DIVISION 2 FIELD: Whitefish Bay is making its 11th trip to the State Tournament and the first since 2003. The Blue Dukes have won four State titles. They won consecutive crowns in 1982 and 1983, when the tournament featured one class. They added a Division 1 title in 1994 and a Division 2 championship in 1995. They have a runner-up finish in 2003 as well. Last weekend, the Blue Dukes ousted Brookfield East 2-1 in the final of the sectional hosted by Brookfield East. Cedarburg qualifies for the ninth time and for the first time since winning the Division 1 championship in 1996. They also won titles in 1989 and 1991 with runner-up finishes in 1992, 1994 and 1995. The Bulldogs shutout Slinger 2-0 in the final of the Germantown Sectional to earn their return to the State Tournament. Oregon makes its second consecutive State appearance and its sixth overall.  Last year’s appearance came in Division 1. The Panthers captured the Division 2 crown in their first State experience in 1998. They edged Elkhorn 1-0 in two overtimes to win the final of the Waunakee Sectional. Marshfield advances to the State Tournament field for the first time following the Tigers’ 3-1 victory over New Richmond in the final of the sectional held at Marshfield.

THE DIVISION 3 FIELD:  Notre Dame qualifies for the State Tournament for the second straight season after advancing to the semifinals last season in Division 2. The Tritons are making their seventh appearance overall. They won back-to back Division 2 titles in 2007-08 and also won the crown in 2001. In addition, they finished runner-up in their first-ever appearance in 2000. This year, they advance to State  out of the Wrightstown Sectional with a 2-0 win over defending Division 2 champion Xavier in the final. Pewaukee returns to State for the second straight season and for the third time overall. The Pirates are seeking their first trip to the title game after falling in the semifinals in each of the two previous experiences. They advance this year via a 3-0 shutout over Catholic Memorial in the final of the Pewaukee Sectional. Both Ashland and McFarland are first-time qualifiers to the State Tournament. The Oredockers earned their berth with a 2-0 win over West Salem in the Chippewa Falls Sectional final, and the Spartans reach the final field of four with a 2-1 victory over last year’s Division 2 runner-up Mount Horeb.

THE DIVISION 4 FIELD: The Prairie School returns to the tournament field for the sixth time and for the third time in the last four seasons. The Hawks have won back-to-back championships on two different occasions. They captured Division 3 titles in 2010-11, which duplicated their success of 2004-05. With their runner-up finish in 2003, the Hawks have advanced to the title game in each of their previous five appearances.  They defeated Lakeside Lutheran 3-0 in the Badger Sectional final to return to the semifinals. Sturgeon Bay qualified for the State Tournament in Division 3 in 2010, in Division 2 last season and now in Division 4. In both of their previous experiences,  the Clippers fell in the semifinals. This season, they move down two divisions and qualify following a 1-1 tie with Central Wisconsin Christian and advancing via a 3-2 shootout in the Central Wisconsin Christian Sectional final. University School prepares for its second State Tournament experience. The Wildcats only other appearance came in Division 3 back in 2008. They were eliminated from title contention on a shootout following a tie in the semifinals. To earn their return they went overtime to oust Sheboygan Christian/Sheboygan Lutheran 1-0 in the Sheboygan Christian Sectional final. This is the first time Barron has qualified for the State Tournament. Their presence comes virtue of the Golden Bears’ 2-1, double-overtime victory over Pacelli in the Marshfield Sectional final.
