Individual Champions Determined at 50th State Gymnastics Tournament

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. – The 50th Annual State Gymnastics Championships concluded with the crowning of individual champions in four events and an all-around competition in two divisions Saturday in Wisconsin Rapids.

In Division 1, there were different champions in four events and in the all-around. Junior Miranda Knabe of Menomonee Falls/Germantown won the all-around competition with a four-event score of 38.15, eclipsing last year's champion Gracie Holland of Marshfield, who compiled a score of 37.899 for second place. Sophomore Annie Murphy of Wilmot Union/Union Grove/Williams Bay was third with a score of 37.7.

Holland won the vault competition for the second straight season, posting a score of 9.583, and Knabe was second with a vault of 9.433. Gracie Moran of Waukesha West/North/South/Catholic Memorial was crowned champion in the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.617, and Knabe was second with a score of 9.6.

Junior Emily Perkowski of Hartford, the defending champion in the floor exercise, won the title for the second consecutive year, sharing the gold medal with Murphy. They both scored a 9.5 on their routines.

Sophomore Araceli De Leo Lopez of Franklin/Muskego/Oak Creek/Whitnall won the balance beam crown with a score of 9.867. Sophomore Drew Gersmeyer of Menomonee Falls/Germantown finished runner-up with a routine of 9.717.

Junior Addie Gallun of Whitefish Bay won two individual events and the all-around in Division 2 for the second year in a row after finishing runner-up in 2018. She accumulated a four-event score of 37.55. Drea O'Connell of Mount Horeb came in second to Gallun for the second straight season, scoring a 37.25 in the all-around. Junior Autumn Tiede of River Falls was third with a 36.249 after placing sixth last season.

Gallun won the uneven bars for the third straight season, performing a routine that scored a 9.383. O'Connell came in second for the second straight season with a 9.033. Gallun also claimed the crown in the vault after a second-place result last year. She won the event with a score of 9.533. Sophomore Lily Wiegand of Sparta took second with a vault of 9.467 following a fourth-place effort in 2019.

O’Connell also won a pair of events. She improved on her runner-up finish last season in the floor exercise to earn the championship with a score of 9.567. Sophomore Lorisa Shatrawka of River Valley/Barneveld came in second with a mark of 9.467, moving up a spot from last year’s third-place finish. O’Connell also won the balance beam with a score of 9.333 after a fifth-place finish in 2019. She edged Gallun for the title, who score a 9.317.
