Defending champion Burlington (38-5) moved one game closer to earning back-to-back titles in Division 1 with a 25-17, 25-13, 29-27 sweep over Waukesha West in the semifinals Friday evening at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wis. Oconomowoc (31-7), the third seed, overcame a two-set deficit to down second-seeded River Falls 17-25, 25-23, 30-32, 18-25, 15-8 in the Division 1 semifinals.

East Troy (30-8) swept Mosinee 25-21, 25-13, 26-24 in the Division 2 semifinals at the Resch Center in Green Bay Friday afternoon. Kettle Moraine Lutheran (31-10) capitalized on a balanced hitting attack to defeat Little Chute 25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 28-26 in the Division 2 semifinals.

Defending champion Lake Country Lutheran (37-11) remains in the hunt for a second straight title following a 25-16, 25-18, 25-16 sweep of Grantsburg in the Division 3 semifinals Friday afternoon at the Resch Center. Stratford (44-0) continues its quest for an undefeated season and a State championship with a 25-23, 20-25, 25-11, 25-16 win over Living Word Lutheran.

Defending champion Clayton (29-3) advanced to the championship match with a 26-24, 26-24, 25-20 over River Ridge in a Division 4 semifinal at the Resch Center Friday morning. Catholic Central (38-7) defeated Newman Catholic 25-17, 25-21, 26-24 in the Division 4 semifinals.

The 25th Annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls Team Tennis Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20. The meet takes place at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison, Wis. Action will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday and will resume Saturday at 9 a.m. Admission is $6 for adults and students.

In addition, the finals of all seven divisions will be streamed live on the FoxSportsGo app through your cable system’s authentication.

For DirecTV customers, the games schedule for Thursday, Nov. 16, can be seen on SD and HD. However, games scheduled for Friday, Nov. 17, will only be available in HD; therefore, SD DirecTV subscribers will not be able to watch these games on TV. Girls Volleyball and Boys Soccer Pre-Finals Games Streamed on WIAA.TV

The semifinals of all four divisions of the WIAA Boys Soccer State Tournament will be streamed live on the WIAA.TV portal of the NFHS Network on a subscription basis. To purchase a subscription to the live programming for $9.95 per month, log-on to WIAA.TV or www.nfhsnetwork.com and click on the subscription image in the middle of the page. Archived streams of the games will be available on demand on the NFHS Network 72 hours after the tournament without requirement of a subscription. The finals will be streamed on Fox Sports Go with cable system authentication.

Watch the broadcast of the WIAA State Girls Volleyball finals Saturday on FS Wisconsin Plus. The Division 4 and the Division 3 finals will be aired live at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., respectively. The Division 2 and Division 1 championship finals will be aired at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively. Check local cable listings for the FS Wisconsin Plus channel in your area.

NFHS SBP Games this Week

The WIAA.TV portal on NFHS Network School Broadcast Program has two events scheduled Thursday and two Friday.  The Game of the Week is a boys soccer clash with River Valley traveling to Prairie du Chien Thursday for a 5 p.m. start.

WIAA.TV offers live and archived webcasts of State Tournament events and school events produced by the NFHS Network School Broadcast Program throughout the year. Subscribe to NFHS Network for live programming at a cost of only $9.95 per month. Archived video is available at no cost.

The first day of the 46th WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament produced clear leaders in the team competitions at University Ridge in Madison Monday.

Last year’s runner-up Arrowhead has a 26-stroke lead in Division 1 after the first day with a four-player score of 308 through 18 holes. Middleton is second at 334, and Onalaska is a stroke back in third at 335.

Senior Alexis Thomas of Middleton is 4-under-par with a score of 68 through the first 18 holes after placing fourth last season. Senior Emily Lauterbach of Arrowhead is two strokes back with a 2-under-par 70. She tied for fifth last season. 

The Prairie School, the defending champion in Division 2, has a 34-stroke advantage with a score of 333 heading into Day 2. Aquinas is second after Day 1 with a 367, and Spooner is third at 368. 

Senior Lori Meyer of Freedom, who placed fifth last season, leads Division 2 individuals with a 2-over-par 74 after 18 holes. Meyer placed fifth last season and tied for sixth in 2014. Senior Sarah Busey of Racine St. Catherine’s, who finished third two years ago, is in second place a stroke behind at 75.

Play continues at University Ridge at 8 a.m. Tuesday with Division 1 teams and individuals. Division 2 teams and individuals begin at 8:50 a.m.

The WIAA family is saddened by the loss of former Associate Director Don Herrmann, who passed away Monday, Sept. 5, at the age of 84.

Herrmann served 25 years in the executive office, retiring on Aug. 1, 1998. He joined the staff in July 1973 as an assistant to the director, replacing Les Ansorge. He assumed the duties for tournament planning and rule responsibilities for the sports of football, wrestling, tennis, softball and hockey.

The 52nd Annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Summer Baseball State Tournament will take place Friday, July 22, at Kapco Park on the campus of Concordia University in Mequon, Wis. Action will begin at 9:05 a.m. with the first of two semifinals. The start has been moved earlier than the scheduled 11:35 a.m. because of heat concerns. The championship game will begin at 6:05 p.m. Ticket prices for the tourney are $8 per session and are available only at the park.

The Watertown vs. Union Grove Division 1 semifinal scheduled for Friday evening is postponed to Saturday at 8 a.m. at Goodman Diamond because of severe weather. 

Gates will open at 7:15 a.m. Tickets purchased for the Friday evening session will be honored at tomorrow morning's Division 1 semifinal game.

Fans for the Division 4 championship game, scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, will be permitted entry into the stadium after the Division 1 semifinal game.
